Food of animalorigin with nutraceutical effects for the human health

Abstract

The nutritional value of milk and meat has been evaluated by non-essential and essential nutrients to support optimal the human growth and development. However, in recent years sources of animal protein, such as meat and milk, have been stigmatized, attributing adverse health effects, resulting from an inadequate knowledge about the benefits of different components present in meat, milk and its derivatives. Recent studies have shown biopeptides with a high nutraceutical activity in milk and its derivatives. Including peptides with ACE inhibitory activity, with a functional effect on reducing blood pressure, lactoferrin peptide and its immune modulatory effect and specific antibacterial action. Some active biopeptides in meat such as anserine, L-carnitine, glutathione, taurine and creatine. This review was conducted to recognize different biocomponents of meat and milk and its benefits to human health
