Abstract
Climate change is a scientific reality and the most urgent problem faced by mankind. This environmental crisis is the result of a prevailing anthropocentric vision in the scientific paradigm, placing man above other species. The livestock industry is an expression of said anthropocentrism, as it has contributed significantly to global warming. Therefore, the livestock industry is responsible for the massive growth in the demand of livestock products, as well as for mitigating the effects in the environment, specifically those regarding global warming. This challenge implies re-thinking the livestock production model from a more ecologic point of view, compatible with sustainable development.
