Ovaprim use in the induced reproduction of the ornamental fish coin, metynnis orinocensis

Abstract

twenty four money fish were kept and selected on the Unillanos fish farmed, eighteen males and six females were used to apply Ovaprim three times. Males were inducted with two doses of 0,25 ml/kg and one dose of 1 ml/kg each twenty four hours. For females, a total dose was 1 ml/kg divided in 10% and 90% each twenty four hours. Three males and one female were located in six aquariums with 48 lt of capacity. After twenty seven hours the last dosis was applicated and the spawning was obtained naturally. At this moment, the water was 28 ºC. The eggs were collected by suction, measuring by volumetry and arranged on six conical incubator with a capacity of 2,5 lt each one. The eggs were reviewed and cleaned 3 times. Eggs hatched 52 hours later, with 29 ºC; the larvae were counted and they were incubated
