Abstract
Veterinary medicine should provide answers to the current critical situation in terms of events of interest in Public Health, such as zoonotic emerging infectious diseases, and aspects like food security, taking into account the national and international trends and clarity the close relationship between human, animal and environmental health. This should be directed under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the paradigm “One World, One Health”, according to the immense potential of being associated with the safety of consumer products and food security, and the risks associated with over 200 zoonoses. Public Health must increase its presence in the educational programs of health-related disciplines, as a crosscutting issue since the beginning of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, where the discipline should be a strategic focus area. The education sector, is ultimately articulating some of the aspects mentioned in the various sections of this text.
