From anguish to desperation

Abstract

This paper exposes and analizes two different but reciprocally related levels of the metaphysical path of Heidegger: On one hand we have the level of critic to the present, marked by the culture of pessimism that nurtures itself in the contempt of the technical – industrial civilization. And, on the other hand, it is the level of the ontological – existential desperation, anchored in the epochal loss of the question for the meaning of Being. This loss causes, in consequence, the impossibility of an individual and historical appropiation of the truth of Being.
