Genealogy of denominational practices of Protestant Reform: A historical analysis of power relations. Essays on language, politics and power

Abstract

This paper main objective is to make a schematic presentation of the theoretical perspectives, the methodological strategies and the results of the research titled “Genealogy of the denominational practices in the Protestant Reformation: an historical analysis of power relations”. In the first part, the general theoretical frame is shown to get closer to the relation between language and politics. The purpose of this is to characterize the problem with which the investigation was committed to and the way chosen to its solution. The following part of the article is devoted to the protestant denomination, issue posed in the second part of the research. It emphasizes in the problems of social practices associated to the puritan asceticism including the concepts of exercise of the self, subjectivity and inclusion. Later, it presents the political differentiations in the Colony to show how it is possible to proceed in an attempt of applying the theoretical formulations coming from previous analyses of the research to a specific problem of the Colombian history. Finally, the conclusions of each one of the studies are compiled.
