What is Ecocritics?

Abstract

The following article is an introduction to ecocriticism. The topics it covers are the relevance of ecocriticsm, the division between hard and human sciencies, anthropocentrism in western culture, and the problem of representing nature in literature. Finally, haiku is used as an example to show the different ways in which man can relate to nature and in which these are reflected in literature.
