Abstract
La Salle University, in partnership with the Secretary of Economic Development of the District of Bogotá, developed a project to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and food development in rural areas of Bogota, to design, through the participatory action research model, sustainable agro-business with emphasis on dairy production chain in Ciudad Bolivar (vereda Santa Rosa) and Usme (vereda El Destino). This project was carried out in order to improve the living conditions of farm households in each region. Within the components of the model, two initial perceptions were the lack of organization and control, revealing the misuse of what they produced and what they could get in agriculture and livestock, as a basis for improving productive and economic conditions. This situation required the active participation of various disciplines such as animal husbandry and agricultural engineering, leading theoretical and practical conditions to increase income of producers through the conversion of their farms to dairy production systems profitable integrated and self-sustaining. Farmers located in Sub-Paramo zone and joined at the Dairy Association of Santa Rosa, found ways to improve their income and raise the quality of life perspective and their families, helping to raise and run a set of viable options within the research program developed in partnership with organizations that supported them
