Evaluación del bienestar animal y comparación de los parámetros productivos en gallinas ponedoras de la línea Hy-line Brown en tres modelos de producción: piso, jaula y pastoreo

Abstract

The main objective of this work was to assess animal welfare, production parameters, egg quality and profitability in laying hens of Hy-line Brown line in three production systems, floor, cage and grazing on pre-stage position and posture on the farms of San Miguel (Alto del Vino) and San Jose, Guausa (La Caro), in Cundinamarca. To obtain this goal was taken as the protocol guide Concepts of Animal Welfare, conducted by the University of Bristol for the WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals). Direct observation was made by chickens and technical analysis of farm records. The experimental process carried out between weeks 17 and 35 corresponds to the stages of pre-position and posture (in total 19 weeks) took into account three batches of 600 chickens for a total of 1.800 hens that were fed the same feed (Italcol posture) and technical management. The analysis of the results came to establish that the grazing system gave better results in terms of production and welfare as compared to the other two systems. The open areas decreased stress levels, supported by adaptation to their environment, temperature, relative humidity, ventilation, density, and this was demonstrated in food consumption indicators gram/bird/day (103,47 gr), percentage of stance (85,54%), housed hen egg (5,99), feed conversion (1,64), mortality (0%), and proximal composition of the egg: moisture (74,4%), dry matter (25,6%), ash (3,6%), protein (13,4%), ether extract (11,9%). The economic analysis showed that production at pasture has higher profitability than cage floor and because the production of eggs in number and quality is higher. They have a better animal welfare in our value-added means a more efficient and adequate egg production in an environment increasingly competitive
