Rights and Responsibilities for Preventing Violence and Building Peace within the Context of Family

Abstract

For centuries Colombia has experienced multiple forms of violence, recorded in the historical processes of shaping of the territory, in the development of economy and politics, in international cooperation and particularly in social coexistence. The memory of injustices and inequalities have impacted, among other areas, the family, considered as one of the basic institutions, which, at the same time it generates its own dynamics of conflict and violence, it suffers the impact of structural, cultural and sociopolitical violence. In this context, and considering the atmosphere surrounding current debates about an old problem and the new alternatives to address it, this paper proposes thinking about the place of families in peace building, from the analysis of the rights and duties in coexistence, the connection of this relationship in the confict and family violence, and the alternatives resulting therefrom, in order to move forward along the paths of peace emerging in this context.
