Incidence of Document Management Problems in Administrative Corruption: A Case Study in the Sector of Commerce and Gastronomy in Havana

Abstract

This article theoretically exposes aspects needed to understand document management in the current organizational context. Furthermore, the relationship between document management and administrative corruption is addressed. The study examines acts of corruption occurred in the sector of commerce and gastronomy in Havana in a period of two years (2011 and 2012), while identifying problems regarding poor document management practices in relation to corruption. For this reason, an observation guide was used based on the requirements of the ISO 30301 standard entitled “Information and documentation. Management system for records. Requirements.” Recommendations are offered to improve document management in the sector of commerce and gastronomy in Havana; and, finally, conclusions are presented
