Anaerobic digestion of effluents from a dairy farm

Abstract

This article presents the results of anaerobic degradation tests of effluents from a dairy farm in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The study of discontinuous anaerobic digestion was conducted in small containers and, subsequently, in bench scale fermentation. The work carried out allowed to adjust the kinetics of methanogenic production to a first-order kinetics, as well as to determine the consequent kinetic parameters. The article shows that degradation characteristics have ample variability, which is not surprising given the heterogeneity that exists in the samples used.
