Urbanism in the Faculty of Habitat Sciences

Abstract

This paper collects the main ideas of the curricular design that allowed the School of Habitat Sciences to obtain the approval, from Universidad de La Salle, of a new program in URBANISM, which will start in 2010. This professional program, with that denomination and the described scope, does not exist in Colombia. There are some Masters of Sciences and Specializations related to this field, but they are focused on specific aspects of the urban phenomenon. Therefore, a comprehensive view of the city, as a problem with multiple variables and horizons, is missed. For that reason, Universidad de La Salle will train professionals exclusively dedicated to the problems of the city and the societies that live in it, paying special emphasis on cultural, environmental, landscaping, anthropological and historical identity of the cities within our country.
