Abstract
John XXIII, whose pontificate took place between 1958 and 1963, was Pope number 261 of the Catholic Church. This pope was a man of peace who earned the esteem of leaders around the world, beyond their ideological differences. In her work, Men in dark times (1970), Hannah Arendt talks about him, and sees him as an authentic Christian and a man of impressive intellect. For this philosopher, independent from any religious denominations, John XXIII is the man of light in times of darkness. In my opinion, the peace proposal presented by that pope is valid and valuable in the search for a solution to the conflict in which Colombia is submerged. It is for this reason that I wish to present it to you in this paper, which is a journey through the documents written by him.
