Abstract

Soil testing laboratories are essential for the development of the science, industry and technology sector, seeing as they serve as support for the deployment of new and improved processes in solutions through the analysis of samples, diagnostics and quality control. This paper shows that, where technology, knowledge and human resources specialized in technical and administrative areas are involved, there is the essential tool to create competitive advantage, which will make it possible to meet the goals of evolution, development and permanence of soil laboratories. The results obtained from the information gathered at the LIAC (High Complexity Instrumentation Laboratory) are presented. According to the market research conducted, the following development strategies are raised: Market Development, Market Penetration and Horizontal Integration. Finally, the article presents and recommends the strategic choice posed in the question what would happen if the LIAC is strategically considered as an autonomous business unit, but attached to La Salle University? The answer is that it would be “ideal”.
