Assessment of induced seismic effects using GIS in Ibague - Colombia

Abstract

This paper presents the most simple and general assessment of susceptible zones to present mass mucking phenomena and zones with possible amplification of seismic signals due to the soil topography, when a seismic event occurs, using the Geographical Information System (GIS) for the city of Ibagué. Input data were: Topography, Geology, Geomorphology, and Surface and deep Soil Description. Results are important; therefore it is necessary to refine the analysis by taking into account hydrometeorological and anthropic variables
