Servo-Visual Control of Handling Robots: Focused Towards Industry

Abstract

Nowadays, research related to robot control is oriented towards the incorporation of external sensorial information that, together with the use of advanced control algorithms, allows performing tasks in partially structured media or media with great uncertainty. Among the sensors currently used, vision sensors have become an interesting alternative due to the amount of information they provide. In recent years, robots with vision systems have been included in automation processes, not only aimed to research, but also in the industry. First, the present article shows a review of the status of vision systems and handling robots applied in the industry; later, it mentions its main uses and finally, it presents different servo-visual control algorithms applied to industrial robots
