Abstract
The preservation of digital documents produced by institutions or persons during their activities is a current issue concerning usability over time and authenticity and integrity. This article analyzes the new context in digital preservation and identifies recommendations outlined in various ISO standards that can help institutions implement policies in this area. The article notes that, since the birth of digital image, progress has been made in solutions to technological obsolescence, like the practice of information migration or proposing new formats for preservation over time; for example, the .pdf/a format for digital documents, or .tif and .jpg for images
