The Importance of Inverse Logistics for Sustainable Development in Colombia

Abstract

Over the past two decades, Colombian economy has been marked by internationalization processes, which has led to the development of logistics policies, which obey to different industrial, social and economic developments that are experienced at an international level. This juncture has lead logistics to fully change the way they assimilate the function of the different departments that make up an organization. Thus, by recognizing that the fundamental notion of logistics is the time to market, new challenges in the business culture arise, not only in big organizations, but also in medium and small companies. In this sense, the success of internationalization is not only measured by the effective performance in the field of business, but this, at the same time, must go together with the development of integrated logistics. The article reflects how inverse logistics is not only a part of the creation of new production sources, but it also starts having a more global perspective, which makes it possible for organizations to gain a more competitive view in this field.
