Abstract
The paper shows research results that highlight the main elements that determine the entrepreneurial activity of the young people of Utopia. The most important ones include: microcredit—as the main source of revenue generation in entrepreneurial projects—; the knowledge and interest in projects with value added in products (transformation of corn, bitter cassava and chocolate); the interest in projects related to livestock (dual purpose cattle and dairy herds) and knowledge about the department’s production chains. The profile of the young entrepreneurs of Utopia was characterized by applying a multivariate analysis, which generated four groups with particular characteristics, which differ mainly in the place of origin, the level of knowledge regarding the sources of funding for entrepreneurial projects and the supply chains in the region.
