Abstract
The agrarian structure and milk production activities in our country have characteristics that are the result of externalities such as the concentration on land ownership, environmental and social issues and violence, which together affect productivity and operating costs. An alternative to this scenario is the organization of farmers through production chains, in order to reach, later and once these forms of organization are consolidated, the links that are specific to agribusiness. This paper aims to make a basic diagnosis of the agrarian structure and the dairy chain, based on the economic, social and environmental contexts that characterize them. It is concluded that trust, partnership and support from both the public and private sectors are key elements for small farmers to improve their incomes and to mitigate the effects of poverty and social exclusion in the medium term. Quality of life depends not only on economic factors but also on encouraging the creation of sustainable and long-lasting environments among farmers units
