Project Management from Network General Theory

Abstract

Planning, programming, control and execution of projects, is a key element for managerial success. Currently in this global environment besides higher competition levels, it is necessary that professionals of every knowledge areas, to identify and manage modus operandi and tools supporting these processes. From Operations Research, the General Network Analysis, specifically from Project Planning techniques, contributes with a series of models for this purpose. Thus, Critical Path Method, Program Evaluation and Review Technique, and PERT/COST Management System (also known as CPM time/cost), have been used from the 50s by Management in a great variety of projects. In this paper we want to show a review of the above-mentioned models, from the standpoint of the Project Administration and Management.
