Abstract
After ten years of research in family businesses area our conclusion is that agreement process among constituents of family businesses, i.e. the Protocol, should be modeled. The goal is an ability to predict on a certain probability the success or failure of the family agreement as a function of the relational intelligence revealed by family business constituents. This is done using a realistic, non-simulated experimental design based on a study of 26 family businesses who have decided to address their Family Protocol by sponsorship of the Family Business Chair. It is believed that an implicit family agreement may remain over time or be communicated successfully for an efficient business management, provided higher constituents’ morale and higher confidence-andrelational qualities of the relationship system could be met.
