Abstract
This paper presents the zoning of the soils in the city of Tunja, which is located 135 Kilometers North far from Bogotá, over the Andes eastern ranges. The region, that is located in a zone with a significant seismic hazard, has recorded heavy damage during several earthquakes. Concentration of damage in certain zones seems to indicate soft soils, which generates amplification of the seismic signal. Additionally, there has been evidence of topographic amplification due to topographic changes. The article shows an analysis of historic seismicity, then, a detailed description of the regional geology, and finally a soil superficial zoning
