Abstract
The development of systems for monitoring civil structures in conjunction with wireless sensor networks has become an alternative to determine and monitor the damage that could result in a structure because of its use. In this context the selection of a routing protocol has a critical role because it will determine the effectiveness of the wireless network to perform this monitoring. This article discusses the desirable characteristics of such protocol, and then proposes a method to facilitate this selection and compares sceneries with the most suitable protocols for these applications
