Abstract
The enterprise integration model called enterprise actor is a recent concept developed in the Industrial Automatics I + D group of Universidad del Cauca. Research work has been developed regarding this concept, and its results have allowed specific definitions and characteristics of the model. Future investigation is centered on the definition of a methodology that allows applying this model to manufacturing companies in order to assess the advantages that so far have been theoretically defined. The formalization of the methodology has led to a comparison between the current status of the enterprise actor model and multi-agent systems. This comparison has provided the investigation group with a new overview of certain elements that need to be modified, added or removed from the current structure of the proposed integration model. The present article shows the basic principles of the enterprise integration model, its current status and future projects that will allow its continuous development
