Abstract
This paper presents a series of discussions about the old age and aging processes; certain ideas about aging as both a demographic and an individual process are questioned; old age and aging concepts are questioned from an individual and social point of view; the legal, gender and differential approaches are also analyzed, together with the social policies, as well as the family and social networks of the elderly. These thoughts are a way to understand and interpret both the personal and social situations and lifestyles experienced around the elderly, with the purpose of inviting all generations to think and carry out actions involving the construction of a culture that includes mechanisms for social and intergenerational integration.
