Abstract
This paper briefly presents the family configurations in different social contexts affected by changes in the course of time. Some characteristics of family groups are presented in an approach from various authors in order to understand them, especially given the social construction of realities in which new maternities and paternities are set. Such reflections can become a way of understanding and interpreting family structures and lifestyles of their members, mediated by the possibility of restructuring or constructing a culture that includes mechanisms of social integration and acceptance of difference. The paper presents the definition of family, and an analysis of the forms they are constituted and its typologies.
