Abstract
This study presents the results of a literature review on family and subjective aspects of domestic violence. A qualitative approach was used with hermeneutic aims; the documentary strategy was based on the technique of literature review for information generation. The sample for the analysis consisted of fifty texts. Results show the authors’ agreement on the fact that domestic violence is developed in multiple ways and it involves decisions associated with the subject and, at the same time, with social contexts. We conclude that the family has influence on social violence and the latter influences domestic violence, i.e., family and society are directly related to this phenomenon.
