Abstract
The entrepreneur serves as a mediator between the agents that contribute with factors and pursues the optimal combination to achieve the efficient production of goods or services. In this process, society can support the emergence of new business initiatives; the early stages are critical because they require resources and support, one of which is the figure of the angel investor. The angel investor is a common figure in developed countries to support the consolidation of the company; furthermore, these experts provide their business experience, advice, contacts and new friends in order to exploit their potential. In Latin America, support to entrepreneurship is scarce and limited to raising awareness, identifying business ideas, business education and training in business plan. Accordingly, information was sought from primary sources to explain the concept of angel investor and its potential in Colombia. A theoretical approach to the concept of entrepreneur is presented, together with the stages of business creation, the concept of angel investor, its advantages and disadvantages and the ideal conditions to support entrepreneurs in order to strengthen nascent companies.
