Higher Education: Service or Right? Two Competing Visions Based on Some Authors’ Arguments on the Subject

Abstract

This document presents a compilation of the arguments of some authors, who think it is a social risk to consider higher education a private service that adjusts to market conditions, as opposed to other academicians or other higher education institutions, who argue that higher education must serve the interests of society and humanity, beyond a utilitarian sense, and that they should be a right instead.
