Abstract
This bibliographic review article provides, from a chronological perspective, an overview of how research on animal production in the Llanos Orientales (Eastern Plains) region and the Colombian Casanare have directly or indirectly taken into account the socio-economic and cultural environment around this production system. This is the theoretical basis of the research project entitled “Identification, implementation and monitoring of socio-economic, human, comprehensive, sustainable development opportunities around animal production in the Casanare region” started by the research group “Social and Economic Research in Colombian Agriculture” from La Salle University. The purpose of this literature review is to verify the historical relevance of the proposed research, highlight its innovative character and demonstrate the region’s need for this research process to be developed in it. Once this have been done, there will be a clearer idea of what direction future research on animal production in the region should take
