University Social Awareness and Responsibility Program from the Administrative and Accounting Sciences Department

Abstract

This paper presents the responsibility model that is taken into account for the social awareness and responsibility program’s development. University social responsibility is the universities’ commitment to generating new knowledge, training top quality professionals and projecting solidarity in the search of economical, social, political, environmental and cultural development. The Department’s Social Awareness and Projection Program follows two lines of work: “creation, strengthening and sustainability of productive units and micro companies in alienated sectors” and “prevention, preservation and social and environmental control in the most vulnerable urban and rural communities”. The article emphasizes close relationship between values and society through the university’s sociopolitical actions, which includes the community, justice, freedom and participation, particularly in the democratization of knowledge.
