Abstract
This paper talks about the impact of intellectual capital and knowledge management in smart organizations. Intellectual capital and knowledge management are two phenomena that are changing the way different processes are carried out within organizations. The article shows the importance of intangible assets and how they can be classified and measured. It also analyzes the way to achieve a proper interaction between intangible asset management and the different organizational components in order to accomplish innovative results and generate competitive advantage. Finally, it talks about the fact that intellectual assets are currently more important than physical and financial assets, in the sense that economic growth is driven by knowledge and ideas, rather than by traditional production factors
