Abstract
Social Responsibility is being used as a strategy so businesses may get both internal and external benefits. For this reason and due to implications that subject has implied in several features of business life and taking into account the shortage of researches of this type in Yucatan State, Mexico, this article sets out an objective to describe the social responsibility level from a probabilistic sample of 76 organizations in the commercial area associated to Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana (Coparmex) in Merida, Yucatan, considering four dimensions: a Business Ethics, an Environmental Conservation, a Life Quality at Work, and a Business-Society Relationship. So among the main results it is observed that social responsibility is not a common practice for commercial businesses; the most developed dimension is business ethics but regarding size differences in sub dimensions of the social business responsibility were not found.
