Abstract
It has been increasingly recognised the relevance of family businesses both in the generation of wealth and employment, therefore its disappearance is worrying. It is estimated that only one of three family organizations has success to the next generation. A comprehensive understanding of these ones followed by a proper planning on them would positively influence their consolidation and continuance. Despite a great majority of firms in the world are family businesses a small research percentage on them is hardly known at conferences and journals specialising on Management. This suggests that term Family Businesses has been overshadowed by others emphasizing the firm size, its economical states, or other features of this organization. It is crucial to make visible the family nature of these firms, understanding their nature, generating and promoting knowledge which allows the success of both families and businesses.
