seismic hazard assessment on 18 ha in the eastern downtown of Bogotá

Abstract

This paper presents the geotechnical zonation and earthquake design spectra suggested. This research included seismological analysis; regional and local geological studies; drills, which penetrate 5 meters in engineering rock basement; seismic refraction profiles; down hole tests; triaxial tests and numerical modeling. From a geotechnical point of view four zones were distinguished: Old Alluviums and Colluviums zone; zone of shallow low plasticity clays (thickness smaller than 10 meters); depth low plasticity zone (thickness greater than 10 meters) and the zone of soils over “Cacho” Formation. Three design seismic spectra were generated: one for rock and two for soils
