Intensities of the earthquake of Pizarro – Choco on november 15, 2004 in Cali - Colombia

Abstract

This article shows the evaluation of the macroseismic intensity in Cali caused by the earthquake on November 15, 2004, whose instrumental epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean near Pizarro in Chocó. 288 forms were processed obtained in direct surveys to the inhabitants; the city was divided in 20 areas separated by urban physical elements. A statistical analysis of the diverse parameters related to the description of the European Macroseismic Scale1998 was made. The result shows that the maximum intensity in the city was of VII in the neighborhoods of Limonar, Santa Maria de Guadalupe, Primero de Mayo, Samanes, Pampalinda, Gratamira, Santa Anita, Villa de Guadalupe, Tequendama and Templete, among others
