Gauckler – manning roughness effect in the flow of low slope channels

Abstract

The mathematical models are computational tools used to approximately simulate the behavior of a flow wave in a drainage system. In this sense, in the model of a channel flow, the roughness of channel represented by the Gauckler-Manning coefficient is a parameter that dynamically interacts with some other parameters on the behavior of the flow in drainage system. This paper presents a model of a wave of flow in a low slope natural channel by using HECRAS 3.1.3 in order to analyze the effect of the sensitivity of the Gauckler-Manning roughness coefficient in the behavior of a flood
