Implementation of a supervision and control system for a manufacturing and assembling parts process in a flexible manufacturing system

Abstract

This paper presents a method used to implement a monitoring and control system in a manufacturing process, which consists of the development of a flexible manufacturing system at the CAD / CAM´s laboratory at the La Salle University in Bogotá, Colombia. This article shows how this process is monitored and controlled by five different stations that produce and assemble two parts by a remote computer and a central module, that connect different PLC’s belonging to each station through the Ethernet network, integrating all the control variables in a tool such as the OPC-SERVER and finally it´s use a Lab-VIEW software application to plot the system state and the performance of each station belonging to the manufacturing system
