Study of Bottom Trawling Theories in Rivers: Rio Negro Segment Modeling, Tobia Area

Abstract

Hydraulic phenomena such as sedimentation and scouring are major problems for the design and construction of hydraulic structures on natural basins, reason why its study is considered relevant. These phenomena are relevant in the segment of Rio Negro, 100 m upstream of the bridge between the towns of Tobia and La Montaña, and therefore the site is proposed as a reference for a comparative study of representative theories of the sediment trawling phenomenon. For this purpose, the construction of a physical scale model was considered, in which the trawling of different types of gravel will be studied. The study evaluated the minimum, medium and maximum flow conditions, which were determined under a hydrological study of the basin. As a result it was found that the Einstein-Brown equations showed more adjusted results than those of the physical modeling
