Loading and Unloading of Public Transportation Passengers

Abstract

Current public transportation services, as in the case of Bogotá, require an urgent improvement action. Among the changes to the system suggested for the Integrated Public Transportation System (SITP for its initials in Spanish) is fare payment through prepaid cards inside the bus. However, this change alone could increase the average boarding rate of passengers compared to the current situation. One change that would improve the boarding rate of passengers would be prepayment before loading and unloading the bus at ground level, a scenario that should be considered in high demand areas
