Abstract
Water scarcity and severe flooding in the Altiplano Cundiboyacense (Cundiboyacense High Plateau) area during recent years, imply the need for a more in-depth study of the behavior of annual precipitation in order to propose solutions to these hydro-climatic issues. This study attempts to answer the following two questions: are the total annual precipitation values changing? And, is the precipitation change in the studied area cyclic? According to this study, in 85.7 % of cases the sign of the cycle phases matched the evolution of the average values of precipitation, which opens the possibility of estimating the long-term behavior of the total annual precipitation in the area under study, by using the concept of cyclicity
