Energy of Type II Fracture in Normal Resistance Concrete Reinforced with Short Steel Fibers

Abstract

The present work presents an experimental determination of the value of the energy of a type II fracture in concrete reinforced with short steel fibers (SFRC) based on mixes of normal resistance concrete in Colombia. Behaviors obtained in tube shear tests were compared. Three types of concrete mixtures were elaborated, with the following water/cement ratio: 0.58, 0.50 and 0.40; non-reinforced and reinforced with the following three volume amounts of steel fiber: 0.5%, 1.0% and 2.0%. The specific energy of the type II fracture was estimated based on the cohesive crack model using the fracture work method based on experimental data
