Abstract
The present article describes a linear programming model to solve an issue related to annual hydrothermal dispatch that does not include the transmission network and takes into account the cost of fuels that change in each period. A test system is selected, using two thermal and three hydraulic plants that can operate continuously in the twelve-month planning horizon. Twelve equipossible hydrologic series are used for the flow of hydraulic plants. Four cases are analyzed: hydraulic plants without reservoir, hydraulic plants with reservoir but without a generation target for month 12, hydraulic plants with reservoir and generation target for month 12 and generation plants in hydraulic chain and with a generation target for month 12. The ideal solution for the four cases is found using the AMPL programming language and CPLEX solver, and results are compared, showing that the reservoir is important in order to reduce costs in the operation of the hydrothermal system
