Abstract
This paper proposes a new methodology to solve the problem of electric transmission network expansion planning by adding specialized restrictions that use information associated with operational areas of the electrical system. The new set of restrictions reduces the computational effort required to solve the problem, allowing that the problem solving techniques perform better in the search for the optimal solution. This new set of restrictions generates cuts in the solution space that eliminate low quality regions. To validate the methodology, a test system of the specialized literature is used. The results presented show the good performance of area-based restrictions
