Abstract
This research focuses on identifying the basic information needs of the community of Mosquera that are required for everyday life, and all the resources, means and sources used to obtain it, including the Public Library as a leading institution, and to thus be able to co-exist as citizens and participate in the development of their community; it also aims to clarify how inhabitants contribute to the construction of a city-region by meeting those needs. For this purpose, an approach is made to the concept of city-region and each of the axes referred to in the Project; once this approach is made, the categories, variables and indicators that were taken into account for this work are presented and, fi nally, the collected information is analyzed, where it became clear that the interaction between Mosquera and the capital contributes to the generation of a city-region; however, it is worth noting that in this sense the contribution from the public library is very low
