Abstract
<p>In an effort to adopt modern ways to bring up- todate Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, engaged in rebuilding the ancient library at Alexandria. The modern library was inaugurated in October 2003, near the site of the old one, with the financial support of UNESCO and some other countries and associations. In this sense, the article describes the beginnings of the Museum at Alexandria which included the library. It also mentions some of the reasons for which Alexander the Great founded the library in the fourth century BC., along with the scholars and Directors the library had in its days of splendor. Some of the successive destructions are also noted</p>
