Abstract

The university is identified as a natural person that is conscious of itself, and is conceived as a sensation of duality within. The university can be found talking to itself and asking questions about its own institutional identity, under a double direction or way: the relevance of its intimate being but consideration in order of the relevance of the actions in benefit to the society. To this intention corresponds, first, the brief historical vision of the university as an institution of legal recognized personality; second the university as a human corporation engaged with the university institutional mission and, third, the identity sense of each member or natural person from this corporation. This article can be concluded with a reflective view about the current university, which is seen between a single reflex of the society, or how it really has to be seen, as a line and guide of the development.
