Social education and civil pedagogy in the globalising age

Abstract

In this article the relationship between Social Education and civic pedagogy is discussed. Some reflection is made on reforms of setting transformation of practicum processes in social sciences on the verge of challenges in the XXI Century. Social Education has always been directly connected to Adult Education, Popular Education, and Education in impoverished and vulnerable groups. From this perspective, changes in political education become important to build an inclusive and just social model by relating the purposes of social and politic education more and more. Thus, the former is a civil right, and the latter, a process to make corresponding civil actions effective in order to preserve social order right compliance, and democracy The discussion in this article aims at developing three elements: a) to identify the role of Social Education in social development, as well as the characteristics and functions of its implementation, b) to analyse the impact and of globalisation and what it implies in education and strengthening of civic pedagogy, and c) to describe the challenges that their implementation represent in at local and global levels.
